And the word 'projected' belongs to the retelling: the X installation actually documented in San Francisco that summer was a flashing rooftop sign, partly up on July 28, 2023 and taken down by July 31 after 24 complaints (AP) — no record of a projection onto a facade in mid-August. ❷ The find: CAW holders stopped at the upper-right corner of the footage. Behind the flaming X, crossing the dark sky — a flock of crows. The creator's intent may never be known; it may have been pure coincidence.
