"Your Bird Is Made of Clay, Be Careful" — A Sentence That Arrived With 0.00666 ETH

In the summer of 2022, someone wrote a sentence to the wallet that created CAW. Not a payment with a purpose — just a line of text typed into the data field of a transaction, where anyone can read it forever. ❶ On July 8, 2022 at 16:25:52 UTC, wallet 0x8242…1eC9 sent the CAW deployer (the wallet that made CAW) 0.00666 ETH, with these words attached: "your bird is made of clay be careful. I have never owned a clay bird". ❷ That same wallet is recorded on-chain as the creator of the token Dejitaru Tsuka, and it had written to the CAW deployer once before, eighteen days earlier: "I just want to be clear. I have only been involved with two jouRneys…". ❸ A year later, on July 29, 2023 at 22:27:11 UTC, almost the same sentence arrived again — from a different wallet, carrying 0.0000666 ETH: "your bird is made of clay be careful. Ranjeesh never owned a clay bird". That second wallet had introduced itself as "RANJEESH" two days earlier, and three days after writing to CAW it sent the same sentence pattern to an unrelated address: "hoichi shrine is made of clay. be carful". What the words were meant to say, no one has explained — and English gives more than one reading. A "clay bird" is what shooters call the clay disc flung into the air at a range: the target. But "feet of clay", an old phrase out of the Book of Daniel, means a hidden weakness in something people look up to. Either reading fits the sentence, and neither is confirmed. As for the amount: of the 859 transactions that first wallet has sent, only two carry 666 in the value, and only one of those has words attached — this one. Why we saved this: the CAW deployer signed for the last time in October 2022 and never wrote back. The sentence stays where it landed, fastened to the record of a wallet that had already gone quiet.
