The quiet year had a blueprint — and the building never stopped

The timeline's widest silence — mid-2024 through mid-2025 — was not idle time. In a single week of September 2024 the developer laid the architecture that has shaped the project ever since: reworking the contracts and tests around an L2 via LayerZero (Sep 16), then widening the goal in his own commit message — "Allowing for CAW to run on multiple L2s to ensure it runs forever" (Sep 17). He added a path to bypass LayerZero and validate directly on mainnet (Sep 18), corrected the design so mainnet itself could serve as that L2 if gas ever became cheap (Sep 20), wrote a client-fee model in which any fee a client sets is duplicated — the user pays twice the set amount, and the duplicate goes toward buying and burning CAW (Sep 23–27) — and deployed the contracts to test nets (Sep 29). And the hands never stopped after that: a notification system with @mentions and Elasticsearch search (Sep 2025), XMTP end-to-end encrypted messaging (Oct 2025), display names, avatars and WebSocket auto-recovery (late 2025) — and the v2 branch has kept moving since, its live cadence on the Observatory's GitHub board rather than frozen into this line. Every date and phrase above is an author-dated commit anyone can open on GitHub (the repository's history was later rebased, so the 'committed' dates GitHub shows differ — the authored dates are the real ones).
